Danny Gillet Cab9 Snowboarding

New to the Cab9 team this year is Danny, he`s a familiar face around Courchevel , a great rider, an awesome instructor and we are stoked he`s now part of the Cab9 crew.

Where are you from?
Northamptonshire in the United Kingdom. Northamptonshire is far from a mountainous wonderland, it is nestled right on the edge of the Fens, an area known for its incredibly flat geography, making it less than ideal for mountain sports.

When did you first start snowboarding?
My snowboarding journey began when I had the opportunity to try snowboarding on a school trip to Alpe d’Huez in 2004. I was instantly hooked.

What countries have you been riding in?
I’ve been fortunate enough to live, work and ride in several countries. These countries include Canada, Austria, Italy, Czech Republic, Scotland, Japan, New Zealand and of course France.

What do you like most about snowboarding?
What I like most about snowboarding is riding with fellow enthusiasts, anyone who loves to ride. There is nothing quite like cruising with a group of friends, pushing each other and trying new things. Whether it’s cranking carves on piste, putting turns in off-piste or trying a new trick these moments are always better shared with friends.

What’s your favourite run in the 3 Valleys?
I believe a good measurement of a great ski resort is how good your home run is, which runs you get to take all the way home at the end of the day and mine is a treat. Starting at the summit of Col de la Loze you drop into a steep black run that shoots you into the switchback turns of Plan fontaine and many side hits along the green run and culminating in Murettes, a red run between the trees that passes the top of the Olympic jump before delivering you into Le Praz. Both fun and challenging.

5 star rating44yr Old beginner shreds after two 3-hour lessons As a 44yr old beginner with one previous experience a year earlier where I fell and severely injured my back, I understood that I needed professional help if I am to take up snowboarding. I explained my previous experience and fears to my Instructor Paul. He took this on board and tailored the lessons to my needs, explaining everything clearly, telling me what to expect and how the board should react to my various inputs. Due to this, after two 3-hour lessons, I was able to confidently side-slip, feather and undertake turns on a green slope. 6-days later and I went down a Blue slope. Whenever it doesn't go as I expected, I am able to recall Paul's clear and concise instructions and I reset and go again. Very very highly recommended.

5 star ratingSuperb, Fun, Patient Tuition Our 16 yr old daughter wanted to start snow boarding this year and having had pervious positive experience of using CAB9 for another child, albeit some years ago, I emailed and manage to book 2 lessons. Communication was easy and efficient. Lessons were brilliant and Jono was patient, kind and fun. It may be an expense, but honestly, it is cost effective as the tuition is soooo good. Thank you, we now have another proficient snow boarder in the family.
5 star ratingLessons for all Had a great 3 hr lesson with Jono who very quickly picked up all my bad habits and started correcting them. The rest of my week was faster, smoother, and required less effort. Would recommend whether you're just starting out or a seasoned boarder... there's always room for improvement.
5 star ratingFantastic instructors and service We had a week in Vals Thorens and had Jono as our instructor, we went for private lessons that me and my other half shared (he did three and I had one lesson with Marco). Marco was amazing, very patient, supportive and had great knowledge. My partner was a complete beginner and came along so well thanks to the lessons. Booking was easy and Helen was really helpful in getting us the right deal / options for us! Thank you!
